Hi {{first_name | Wellness seeker}},
We hope your week is moving along at a pace that feels manageable. Wednesdays are great for taking some moments for a quiet pause to notice how you’re feeling and what you might need a little more (or less) of.
Today, we’re looking at something that often sits behind the scenes when it comes to weight and energy – hormones. We’ll keep it simple and practical. There’s also a small wellness habit you might want to try this week, and a nourishing treat that proves healthy can still feel like a little indulgence.

Where Are the Good Men?
by Laurie Gerber
Ahh, the search for the rare breed of good men: The decent men who want a serious relationship. You mean decently healthy, financially stable, well-groomed and clean, handsome enough, and ready for a long-term relationship. At first glance, these seem like questions about the dating market. But, if they were, my answer "everywhere" would suffice...

Why Sicily Is the Perfect Destination for a Springtime Break
by Daniela Sanfilippo
Springtime is such a glorious time of year and certainly one of my favourite times to be here in Sicily. Delicate fresh spring flavours appear in dishes and on menus and, with daylight hours increasing daily, al fresco breakfasts and dinners start to bookend the day. Meeting Life Transitions After 60: Navigating Our Losses Without Getting Lost

🌿Pro-Aging Wisdom: A Different Way to Think About Weight After 60
If weight feels harder to manage than it used to, it’s not just about willpower, and it’s not something you’re imagining.
As we get older, certain hormones can quietly influence how our body stores fat, how hungry we feel, and how easily we build muscle.
A few of the key ones:
Cortisol (the stress hormone): Ongoing stress can keep cortisol levels high, which may increase cravings and make weight harder to manage. Finding small ways to reduce stress, even a few minutes of calm breathing, can help.
Leptin (the “I’m full” signal): This hormone is meant to tell your brain you’ve had enough to eat. But over time, that signal can become less clear, which is why meals don’t always feel as satisfying as they once did.
Ghrelin (the hunger hormone): This one nudges you to eat, especially when your body thinks it needs energy. Staying well-hydrated can sometimes help take the edge off that constant “snacky” feeling.
Testosterone (yes, for women, too): As levels decline with age, it can become harder to maintain muscle, which in turn slows metabolism. Gentle strength training, even a couple of times a week, can make a difference.
The takeaway here isn’t to manage everything perfectly. It’s simply to understand that your body is changing, and to work with it, rather than against it.

💡 Wellness Tip of the Week
Instead of focusing on what to remove from your meals, try adding one nourishing thing each day. It can be a handful of greens, some extra protein, or even just a glass of water before lunch. It’s a gentler approach, and it often leads to better habits without feeling restrictive.
